Batelgeuse, ared supergiant, is probably the largest star in our corner of the Milky Way. the star is 500 light years from Earth, but is so large-1000 times wider than the Sun- that it is seventh- brightest star in the sky. If the Sun were as big as Betegeuse, it would dtrech to Jupiter. unlike the Sun with its small sunspots Betegeuse has one larger, bright blotch on its surface. the spot is more than 10 times the size of Earth, but no one knows why it is there
